“Sleeping, that’s what I had been doing from the beginning.”

Having become a fashionable architect in spite of himself, Pierre-Antoine is the father of three indifferent children and the husband of an overworked gallery owner. In the middle of a sleepless night, his eyes are opened to a strange revelation. Reality now appears to him in a new light. His daughter’s face, the lighting in his kitchen, his customers’ e-mails, his wife’s smile, the works he’s looking at… everything has changed.

After being diagnosed with a simple allergy, the narrator announces to those around him that he is suffering from throat cancer. This ruse should give him time to write a novel, regain the love of his wife, the consideration of his children and the meaning of his burlesque existence.

An absurd, witty comedy, Paloma de Boismorel’s first novel plays with the tyranny of well-being, vanity and pretense.
