It took her mind wandering to Île Jean-Charles to bring her face to face with her father. Who is this man with his quiet presence, never questioned? To find out, she explores the workshop where he has amassed all kinds of curiosities. Behind the compulsive hoarder, the archivist of other people’s lives, lies a man marked by war, a committed and secretive artist.

Through this intimate geography, Hélène Gaudy explores what is transmitted in silence, offering her father the hope of an unsinkable place—and readers a sensitive text of great beauty.
