A father who is a painter and a daughter who is an actress are thought of as sweet dreamers by some kind souls. However, what they truly share, through evasion, subterfuge and distance, is a desire to avoid reality, a goal towards which all methods are allowed.

For him, the deal is done. Settled in his retirement home, fiction and reality have happily merged as he awaits the fortune he believes he is owed by the Japanese buyers of his most famous paintings.

For her, though, there is a long way to go … So when she receives a call from her friend Victoire, a director, offering her work on an adaptation of a novel by Pushkin, she begins to dream of playing the role of Tatiana. Between visits to her father, she tries, for once, to make reality bend to her desire.

Rachel Arditi has written a mischievous and elegant first novel about a father and daughter and their attempts to reenchant the world.
