Benoit D’Afrique, born in Gonaïves (Haiti), currently director of publication of the literary and artistic magazine Débridé. A magazine that was born from the desire to unbind the phalanxes in favor of a common struggle: that of bringing out the young voices of contemporary literature.
The first entry of Benoit D’Afrique to the literary world was made with his text Ma mort, ed Bruno Doucey, winner in 2016 for the international prize of Poetry in Freedom. In 2020, he was among the nominees for the International Poetry Prize Léopold Sédar Senghor. He is the first to be in residence at the Maison des Jardies, former home of Honoré de Balzac and the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud with the support of the Ile-de-France Region in 2021. In parallel to writing and photography, Benoit studied modern literature.
This experience in the sciences of language feeds his approach as a creator. Language holds an enormous place in his work, and it is with this in mind that his style is impregnated with images or turns of phrase specific to the Creole language.
